Italian pianist Marco Mantovani and Dutch pianist Maxime Snaterse share a passion for the classical piano repertoire and join forces in programs for piano four-hands and two pianos. Their musical partnership traces back to their time at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where they established a profound personal and professional connection that translates naturally into their ensemble playing. They have appeared at prominent venues and festivals, including Flagey in Brussels and Het Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam.
Marco Mantovani studied in Mantova, in Fiesole with Andrea Lucchesini, and at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel with Aleksandar Madžar. He performs regularly as a soloist, with orchestra, and as a chamber musician in major concert halls in Belgium (BOZAR and Flagey), Italy (La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Regio in Parma, La Pergola in Florence), China (Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, Oriental Art Center in Shanghai), as well as in Porto (Casa da Música) and Salzburg (Mozarteum). He obtained the title of Doctor of Arts (PhD) from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel (KCB) with the thesis “The Poets’ Garden: Inside the Mind of an Interpreter of Robert Schumann.” His recording cycle devoted to Schumann was awarded the “Supersonic” Prize by Pizzicato and nominated for the 2025 ICMA Awards. Pianist Maria João Pires said of him: “From the first day I discovered somebody with great talent and wonderful musicality, wishing to understand music in a deep way.”
Maxime Snaterse has performed on national and international stages such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Wigmore Hall in London, and the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ in Amsterdam. Highlights of her recent concert seasons include diverse solo recitals, various performances with her chamber music ensembles, and appearances as a soloist with orchestras, most notably performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 at venues including the Grand Hall of the Kraków Philharmonic (Poland) and Concertgebouw De Vereeniging in Nijmegen. In addition to her performing career, she works as a accompanist at the LUCA School of Arts in Leuven and as a piano teacher at the Mechelen Conservatory. She studied under Aleksandar Madžar (Royal Conservatory of Brussels) and Frank van de Laar (ArtEZ University of the Arts Zwolle), completing both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees with the highest distinction. Her artistic development was further shaped by masterclasses with artists such as Lars Vogt, Boris Berman, and Pascal Devoyon, as well as participation in international summer courses like the IHMS Bergen and the International Mozarteum Summer Academy in Salzburg.
